In THE TEXT, a curated group of GoCM’s principal artists explore the time-honored medium of the artist book. Contradictory though it seems, these artists challenge the fixedness of their materials by transforming them into avatars of the most ephemeral: paper, ink, and word. Slowing the dizzying pace of the cycle between text, image, and meaning by rendering it durable and hard, these works open up a dialogue on the obligation of contemporary art to make the issues of the present legible and the possibilities for exploring radical meaning in slow art.
