Zanelli, Carolina
Carolina was born in Italy. After completing high school and the Conservatory of Music, where she studied the cello, she discovered her passion for mosaic and gained her diploma as 'Maestra Mosaicista' at the prestigious 'Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli'(SMF), Spilimbergo in 1995. In 1994 she worked at the 'MosaiqueSurface' in Montreal, Canada, then one year at the 'Mayer' in Munich, Germany. Back in Italy, she worked as a mosaic teacher for six years at the SMF, where she still gives short workshops. Currently, she works as a mosaic artist but also continues teaching, in her own studio as well as in private and public schools, in Italy and abroad. Through the years, she has also participated in exhibitions and mosaic projects in Palestine, Holland, California (California College of the Arts, Oakland), Chicago, South Africa, Kenya and France. She was invited to the SAMA Meeting in Miami in 2008. Images of her work can be found in Sonia King’s book “Mosaic”, Sterling Ed. She was interviewed by Vanity Fair in April 2008.
